According to the news website "CNN Greece", following the outbreak of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the US, aiming to be ready for any eventuality, wanted to use the infrastructure of the Greek Armed Forces to deploy its military aircraft at a "safe distance".
In the photographs obtained by CNN Greece from the Suda base in Crete, 7 US airlift vehicles, 10 C-130 transport aircraft, a KC-135 aerial refueling aircraft, a Boeing P-8 Poseidon anti-submarine and anti-surface combat aircraft were seen.
The news report claimed that US planes started arriving at Elefsina Military Airport over the weekend, which the US requested to use for the deployment of large military aircraft.
