Brown, who was convicted of murder at the age of 18, was released nearly 10 years later in 2018 after it was revealed that he was innocent.
Brown, 34, won the lawsuit he filed after his release. Accordingly, it was reported that Brown will be paid 50 million dollars in compensation.
According to the case files, his lawyer argued that Brown's constitutional rights were violated during the trial in which he was accused of murder.
The lawsuit said that Brown was not allowed to speak to a lawyer or his family when he was taken into custody, and that the authorities interrogated him for a day, forcing him to give false testimony.
Making a statement to the press in front of the Dirksen Federal Court after the verdict was announced, Brown said, “Justice has finally been served for me and my family.”
