Elon Musk, owner of SpaceX, said on social media platform X that SpaceX will launch its first crewless “Starship” spaceships to Mars in 2 years when the next Earth-Mars transfer window opens.

First crewed flights in 4 years

Stating that the robust landing on Mars will be without a crew to test its reliability, Musk added that if these landings go well, the space company will launch its first crewed flights to Mars in 4 years.

“The flight rate will increase exponentially from now on, with the goal of building a self-sustaining city in about 20 years,” the billionaire said.

In April, Musk, who founded SpaceX in 2002, said the first crewless ship to land on Mars would be Starship in five years and humans would land on Mars for the first time in seven years.
