The UAE Foreign Ministry also demanded that the French government immediately provide Durov with consular services and assist in his release from police custody following a surprise arrest on Saturday.

Following the detention of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in Paris, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is considering the possibility of completely eliminating military-technical cooperation with France.

“The United Arab Emirates is considering the possibility of a complete blockade of military-technical cooperation with France after the detention of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in Paris,” the development was announced on the Telegram channel.

It is also reported that following Durov's arrest, the UAE froze the implementation of a contract to purchase 80 fighter jets from France.

Durov is also known to be a UAE citizen.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, in a statement published by the WAM agency, called on France to provide Pavel Durov, detained in Paris, access to all necessary consular services as a UAE citizen, EADaily reported.

“The UAE is closely following the case of UAE national Pavel Durov, founder of the Telegram social network, who was detained by French authorities at Le Bourget airport. The French government has been urgently requested to provide all necessary consular services.”

The UAE announced that it was closely following the case of Pavel Durov, the founder and CEO of the Telegram messaging application, who is a citizen of the Emirate, after his arrest by the authorities in France and the extension of his initial detention period.
