According to reports in the Philippine press, Interior Minister Benhur Abolos confirmed in a statement on social media that Quiboloy, a pastor who has been fleeing justice for 3 years, was captured in Davao City.

Police had been attempting to capture Quiboloy, who had been staying at the compound of his Church of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ in the southern city of Davao for two weeks, but his supporters had refused to allow law enforcement officers to enter the compound.

24 HOUR ULTIMATUM

After police and armed forces gave a 24-hour ultimatum, pastor Quiboloy surrendered to security forces.

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said in a statement, “We will treat him like any other prisoner and respect his rights. We will take the process to the end. The process will be transparent. Everyone involved in the process will be held accountable.”

USA DID NOT REQUEST EXTRADITION

Marcos said there was no extradition request from the US for Quiboloy, emphasizing that the pastor must first be tried in local courts and answer the charges against him.

Quiboloy was on the FBI's wanted list.

In November 2021, the US Federal Prosecutor's Office indicted Quiboloy and two senior church leaders on charges including conspiracy, forced sexual abuse of children and women, fraud, false marriage, money laundering, cash smuggling and visa fraud.

“GOD'S APPOINTED SON”

Federal prosecutors announced that the leader of the Philippines-based church, which operates in the Van Nuys area of Los Angeles in the US, has been charged with sexually abusing women and underage girls whom he coerced with the threat of “damnation”.
