In a written statement released by the Department of Defense (Pentagon), it was stated that the additional security assistance will meet Ukraine's critical defense needs.

The aid package provides Ukraine with core capabilities, including air defense interceptors, rocket systems, ammunition for artillery and anti-tank weapons, the statement said.

In a press briefing via teleconference, White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby said that in addition to USAI's $1.5 billion in security assistance, the White House decided to send $200 million in aid to Ukraine under presidential authority.

This is the 20th tranche of equipment from the USAI package and the 62nd tranche of equipment from the Pentagon inventory since August 2021.
