It capsized a small fishing boat off the coast of New Hampshire with 2 frightened sailors on board.
The large mammal was captured on amateur cameras as it sliced through the waters off the city of Portsmouth on Tuesday. The eerie footage shows the animal slamming its snout into the back of the small boat, knocking the 2 people on board into the water.
The boat can be seen floating sideways on the water before it begins to sink and flip over. Another footage shows the boat being towed away by another fisherman nearby.
Everyone on board reportedly escaped unhurt. While it remains unclear exactly when the incident occurred, the footage first appeared on social media on Tuesday afternoon.
UNKNOWN WHY HE APPROACHED THE BOAT
The humpback whale, thought to be about 2 years old, has been spotted near the border of Maine and New Hampshire for the past week.
It remains unclear what caused the humpback whale to approach the boat. Although orcas are known to attack boats, humpback whales usually approach boats out of curiosity rather than anger or feeling threatened.
