A new discovery was made in the mountainous area named after previously discovered fossils. Archaeologists started to work after the villagers who shepherd in the region reported it.

Upon this, more than 400 dinosaur footprint fossils were found in the region. The search for fossils in the region was also accelerated upon new discoveries.

Chinese archaeologists said it was the first time such a large-scale and diverse discovery had been made.

The footprint fossils are thought to belong to three different dinosaur species. Archaeologists estimate that the fossils date from the early Cretaceous period.

Since 1938, 120 dinosaur fossils have been found in the region. It is evaluated that the newly discovered footprint fossils may lead to the discovery of new dinosaur fossils.
