WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. President, Donald Trump, announced on Thursday his commitment to collaborating with Congress to expedite the implementation of an innovative computerized air traffic control system. This decision follows the tragic incident last week, in which an Army helicopter and a commercial jet collided, resulting in the loss of 67 lives.
Trump highlighted that several other nations have already embraced significantly more sophisticated air traffic control systems compared to the United States. Notably, he mentioned that even his personal jet utilizes a control system manufactured in a foreign country. However, he chose to withhold the specific details regarding the origin.
The President emphasized that the recent devastating collision would serve as a catalyst for positive change, aiming to overhaul and enhance the air traffic control infrastructure in the United States. This strategic move is envisioned to bring the country in line with cutting-edge technologies and global standards.
