According to a statement released by the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Mongolia on September 3 and will meet with President Uhnaagiyn Hürelsüh.

A number of documents are expected to be signed during the meeting, which will discuss relations between Russia and Mongolia at the level of comprehensive strategic partnership, as well as international and regional issues.

Putin will also meet with Mongolian Parliament Speaker Dashzegviin Amarbayasgalan and Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, when asked whether Mongolia's membership in the ICC, which issued an arrest warrant against Putin, caused concern in the Kremlin, said, “We have no concerns. We have a good dialog with Mongolian friends. All the elements of the visit have been prepared.”

UCM'S ARREST WARRANT AGAINST PUTIN

As part of its investigation into crimes committed in Ukraine, the ICC announced in March 2023 that an arrest warrant had been issued against Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Commissioner for the Rights of the Child Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova for war crimes and that this warrant was valid for life.

In June, the ICC announced that an arrest warrant had been issued against Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov for their involvement in war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Mongolia is one of the 124 countries that signed the Rome Statute and became a member of the ICC.
