A new statement from the WHO on the smallpox virus! A new statement from the WHO on the smallpox virus!

Laura Barajas, 40, lived with her three children in San Jose, California. In July, the young woman bought fish from a local market. She undercooked the fish and shortly after eating it, she became ill and was hospitalized.

Laura found herself surrounded by ventilators and monitors; the situation was worse than it appeared. The fish Laura had consumed contained the aggressive 'vibrio vulnificus bacteria', which can be found in undercooked seafood. This type of bacteria is colloquially known as 'flesh-eating'.

Laura was rushed into surgery and her arms and legs were amputated in order to survive the devastating effects of the bacteria.

On top of Laura's challenging health situation, a hefty hospital bill and the young woman's expiring medical leave made everything even more unmanageable. Laura's friend Anna Messina started fundraising on GoFundMe and so far the donations have exceeded 110 thousand dollars.
