According to local sources, after a calm yesterday in Etna, where volcanic eruptions increased on July 4-5, ash and lava spewing activities were observed again today at dawn.
ASH COVERED THE STREETS
Etna's ash spewed from the volcano covered roads around the volcano and streets in settlements such as Zafferana Etnea, Acireale and Giarre.
In the information shared by the Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), it was noted that new eruptions were observed in the crater named "Voragine" in the first hours of the day and lava flows were experienced in high areas.
REACHED 5 KILOMETERS HIGH
It was stated that the ash spewed by Etna reached a height of about 5 kilometers.
WARNING FOR AIRPLANES
In the media reports, it was stated that a "red" warning was issued for airplanes passing through the region due to the ash cloud, but for the moment there is no situation affecting air traffic at Fontanarossa Airport in Catania.
HIGHEST ACTIVE VOLCANO
Etna Volcano is the highest active volcano in continental Europe with a height of about 3,300 meters.
RED ALERT CONTINUES
On the other hand, it was reported that volcanic activities continued at Stromboli, another active volcano in the country, which became active after Etna during the week, albeit at a lower intensity than on July 5, but the "red" alert status continued.
