The Central Bank of Russia revoked the operating license of the American Express bank.
In a written statement made by the Central Bank of Russia, it was stated that American Express decided on voluntary liquidation and therefore the operating license of the bank was revoked.
American Express announced that it stopped its activities in Russia in March 2022 following the Ukrainian war.
Russian President Vladimir Putin gave American Express permission for voluntary liquidation with the decree he signed in May.
