A MARKETPLACE WILL BE SET UP TO SELL USERNAMES

Although the company's website still states that it "cannot publish usernames that are not currently active," an internal group known as HandleTeam has reportedly begun working on a marketplace for unused usernames, Forbes reported.

Current sales have taken place through email solicitations to potential buyers who have asked for a flat fee.

237 MILLION DAILY ACTIVE USERS 

DemandSage notes that as of 2023, there are only 1.3 billion Twitter accounts on the platform, of which only 237.8 million are active on a daily basis.

The company's governance policy currently encourages users to log in at least every 30 days to keep their accounts active.
