Santa Ana Winds to Unleash Destructive Force!

The winds in Southern California have calmed down recently, aiding in the containment of wildfires. However, AccuWeather meteorologists predict that windy conditions will return early in the workweek. A high-pressure system moving across the Rocky Mountains will bring strong offshore winds to Southern California, leading to a Santa Ana event.

Santa Ana winds are expected to intensify on Monday, with gusts up to 60-80 mph in mountain regions near Los Angeles and 40-60 mph in areas from Ventura to San Diego counties. The windy conditions will persist through Tuesday before easing up later in the day. There could be another brief Santa Ana event from Wednesday night to Thursday night in similar regions.

Due to the continued breezy conditions, the wildfire risk remains high this week. Active fires, such as the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire, are being closely monitored. Concerns about air quality are also elevated, as winds can stir up ash from burnt structures.

Looking ahead, rain chances in Los Angeles are minimal for the rest of the month, with a potential for rain on Jan. 25-27 and a better chance on Feb. 10-23. Dry conditions and rising temperatures are expected in the coming days, with a slight cool down by the weekend.
