“HOLLYWOOD ACTIVITIES”

The Clooney Foundation for Justice, a US-based non-profit organization, has been declared “undesirable” in Russia for conducting “Hollywood-scale” activities aimed at discrediting Moscow.

“RUSSIA APPRECIATES YOUR ACTING TALENT”
The Russian Prosecutor General's Office issued a statement titled “Russian Prosecutor General's Office Appreciates Hollywood Activists' Acting Talent”.

“Extensive work is being carried out to discredit Russia, actively supporting false patriots, members of banned terrorist and extremist groups,” the statement said.

UNDESIRABLE ORGANIZATION LABEL

Since 2015, Russia has applied the “undesirable” label to dozens of foreign organizations, effectively banning them from operating in the country.

The banned foundation was founded by US actor George Clooney and his wife Amal Clooney, a human rights lawyer.

HE SUED RUSSIA

In July, the Clooney Foundation, along with several civil society organizations, filed a lawsuit with the UN Human Rights Committee, accusing Russia of violating the rights of Ukrainians killed in a missile attack on Vinnitsa in 2022.

Following Moscow's deployment of troops to Ukraine in February 2022, Russian authorities have increased the crackdown on dissidents to levels not seen since the Soviet Union.

In addition to non-profit organizations, Russia's “undesirable” list includes media outlets, political, cultural and religious groups. Moscow claims that these groups pose a threat to the country's security.

ALSO PLAYED A ROLE IN THE ARREST WARRANT

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has requested an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Amal Clooney allegedly played a critical role in the ICC's decision to arrest Netanyahu.

It was revealed that Amal Clooney was one of six legal experts who assisted in the decision to issue the arrest warrant.
