Paige Bueckers scored 24 points and Azzi Fudd added 13 as No. 3 UConn defeated 22nd-ranked Creighton 70-50 to clinch the Big East championship on Monday night. This marked the Huskies’ 23rd Big East title and fifth consecutive one since rejoining the conference in 2021. Creighton, making their first appearance in the championship game since 2016, was led by Lauren Jensen’s 13 points.
Sarah Strong contributed 13 points, 11 rebounds, and six steals for UConn, who started strong by scoring the game’s first 11 points. Despite Creighton’s prowess in three-point shooting throughout the season, they struggled to convert against UConn, making only 6 of 23 attempts.
Looking ahead, both UConn and Creighton now eagerly anticipate their NCAA Tournament seedings, to be announced on Sunday night.
