NYC Mother Stands Up: Police Officers Face Lawsuit

The police officers proceeded to forcibly move Moody towards their patrol vehicle, all the while tugging at her head and shoulders, as detailed in the notice of claim – a preliminary step towards filing a lawsuit. “I kept asking them ‘What’s happening? Why are you treating me like this?'” Moody recounted to The Post. “He responded by saying that it was because I wouldn’t stop talking, and he even went as far as to call me a derogatory term.” After a judge instructed her to avoid any further trouble for a period of six months, Moody was eventually allowed to go free.

The incident occurred in the Coney Island area, where the woman was traveling when she was stopped by the police. A picture of an NYPD car’s side door panel is provided for context. Since the encounter, Moody claims to have experienced back pain, numbness in her foot, and tingling sensations in her arms and fingers, among other health issues. “This blatant misuse of power underscores the deep-rooted problems of racial profiling, excessive force, and lack of accountability within the NYPD,” asserted Moody’s attorney, Eric Sanders.
