The Bank of England (BoE) auctioned King Charles III banknotes with low serial numbers. In the statement made by the bank, it was stated that a total of 1.17 million dollars in revenue was obtained.

In the statement made by the BoE, it was noted that a 50-pound banknote was sold at a record price of 26 thousand pounds. A single 10-pound banknote with serial number HB01 00002 was sold for 17 thousand pounds.

Over the summer, four auctions were held for £5, £10, £20 and £50 notes. The proceeds from these auctions went to various charities.

Charities included those that support mental and physical health problems, poor children, starving people, the environment and animals. According to the BOE, each charity received a share of just over £91,400.

King Charles banknotes entered circulation for the first time in June. The portrait of King Charles on the banknotes was based on a photograph taken in 2013.
