“Jets’ Justin Fields avoids speculation about draft selection”
New Jets quarterback Justin Fields is unfazed by the New York media’s probing questions. When asked how he would react if the team drafted a young quarterback in the upcoming 2025 NFL draft, Fields responded, “I prefer not to answer hypothetical questions. I am open to helping others learn, but I am not interested in hypothetical scenarios.”
Fields, who signed a two-year, $40 million contract with the Jets in March, with $30 million guaranteed, was subsequently announced as the team’s starting quarterback for the 2025 season by new general manager Darren Mougey. Fields, a former first-round pick, had a successful stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024, where he shared starting duties with veteran Russell Wilson.
Heading into the 2025 draft, the Jets have veteran Tyrod Taylor, 2024 fifth-round pick Jordan Travis, and 2024 UFL MVP Adrian Martinez on their quarterback roster. With the No. 7 overall pick in the draft and a strong coaching staff in place, the Jets have the resources to make moves if they decide Fields is not their long-term solution.
The Jets, under the leadership of Mougey and head coach Aaron Glenn, are poised to make strategic decisions in the upcoming draft to strengthen their team for the future.
