Jason Kidd’s Comeback as Mavericks Coach Sparks Excitement!

Mavericks General Manager Nico Harrison announced that Jason Kidd will be taking on the role of head coach for the team’s No. 1 draft pick, Cooper Flagg. This decision comes after Dallas selected the talented Duke star in the recent draft. Despite rumors suggesting Kidd’s interest in coaching for the New York Knicks, the Mavericks have denied any talks with the Knicks about interviewing him. Harrison addressed these rumors by confirming that Kidd will indeed be coaching the Mavericks next season. Kidd, who currently has two years left on his contract with Dallas, has a coaching record of 179-149 and led the team to the NBA Finals in 2023-24. The Knicks, who recently parted ways with head coach Tom Thibodeau, have faced challenges in their coaching search with several teams declining interview requests. Flagg expressed confidence in Kidd’s coaching style and mentioned building a good rapport with the Hall of Fame coach. Kidd previously coached the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks before joining the Mavericks.
