“It’s a very unfortunate situation,” stated Houston Police Constable Alan Rosen in an interview with the media. “The very product they use — 107 canisters, is a substantial amount. He had been utilizing it while driving around.”
“He confessed it,” Rosen affirmed. “He acknowledged that he has a problem.” This wasn’t the first time Pedlar faced legal repercussions related to his alleged addiction. Records from the Harris County District Clerk revealed that the dentist had been charged with interfering with a public servant and possession of a volatile chemical back in October.
As reported by KHOU, Pedlar was out on a $5,000 bond in that previous case and had been mandated to undergo treatment. In this recent incident, Pedlar was purportedly driving along West 19th Street in Houston on a Saturday when law enforcement observed him speeding at 44 mph in a 30 mph zone. Despite police signaling him to pull over, he initially refused.
After traveling half a mile, Pedlar eventually pulled over and allegedly admitted to possessing the chemicals and his fondness for them. Law enforcement officers in Houston, Texas, recounted that Christopher Michael Pedlar initially resisted stopping before being apprehended with an air of amusement.
Pedlar was arraigned on Monday and subsequently released on a $10,000 bond. The Texas State Board of Dental Examiners declined to provide any comments on ongoing complaints or investigations, as reported by the media outlet.
