Rudy Giuliani, formerly known as Donald Trump’s personal attorney, has taken steps to relinquish various assets, including a New York City apartment, a 1980 Mercedes vehicle once belonging to actress Lauren Bacall, and multiple luxury watches. Facing disbarment and contempt charges in both New York and Washington, Giuliani finds himself entangled in legal battles on multiple fronts.
In a recent development, Giuliani was held in contempt by a judge for his failure to surrender property to two Georgia election workers, Freeman and Moss, who filed a lawsuit against him in 2021. The lawsuit was prompted by Giuliani’s repeated dissemination of false claims alleging corruption in the 2020 Georgia election.
During a court proceeding, Giuliani’s attorney attempted, unsuccessfully, to have Giuliani’s spokesperson, Ted Goodman, and Monsignor Alan Placa, a retired priest, called as witnesses. The attorney argued that both individuals possessed “intimate knowledge of his intent and the homestead.” When pressed by Judge Liman, defense attorney Joseph Cammarata emphasized that Placa “answers to a higher power than this court,” clarifying that he meant Placa answers to God. Despite the defense’s request, Judge Liman denied Placa’s testimony.
Giuliani is slated to be the primary witness in the trial and is expected to testify first. Additionally, a ruling is pending on whether Giuliani will be required to surrender his World Series rings and a condominium as part of a defamation case against him.
