Smoke from a fire that started yesterday afternoon in the Varnava region, east of the Greek capital Athens, has reached the capital Athens.
It was noted that due to the smoke, the authorities instructed citizens not to go out unless necessary.
Greek media reported that the fire, which spread rapidly due to the strong winds in the region, became difficult to bring under control, and that 26 aircraft and 120 firefighters intervened in the fire.
According to the news reports, 9 villages were evacuated due to the flames reaching the settlements, while police and volunteers rescued some citizens who were trapped in their homes due to the fire.
