On Sunday, July 21, US President Biden faced the cameras at the White House for the first time about his withdrawal from the presidential race to be held on November 5 and explained the reasons for his decision.

Emphasizing that he loves his country and serving his country and that he is very proud of his presidency, Biden stated that they are in a period when democracy must be defended and his decision should be evaluated in this context.

Explaining why he recommended Vice President Kamala Harris to replace him, Biden said, "I have made my decision and I have shared it. I thank our esteemed Vice President Kamala Harris. She is experienced, strong and talented. She is an incredible partner for me and a leader for our country. Now the choice is up to you. American people, make that choice."

"I WILL FOCUS ON DOING MY DUTY IN THE REMAINING 6 MONTHS"

Explaining that he will spend his remaining time for the presidency by addressing important topics in both domestic and foreign policy, Biden said, "I will focus on doing my job as president in the remaining 6 months."

Stating that he will continue to reduce costs for low-income families, grow the economy, and continue his efforts in areas such as democracy and human rights, Biden added that there is no place for political violence in the US.

Emphasizing that he will continue to work on international issues, especially in Ukraine and Gaza, Biden said, "I will continue to work to end the war in Gaza, ensure that all prisoners return home, and ensure peace and security in the Middle East."

Biden emphasized that they will continue to support Kiev in the Ukrainian war and keep the NATO alliance stronger than ever and be strong and resilient against Russia.

DROPPING OUT OF THE RACE AND NOMINATING KAMALA HARRIS

On Sunday, July 21, US President Biden announced on his X account that he was withdrawing from the presidential race and nominated Vice President Kamala Harris as his replacement.

Harris, who gathered the support of more than half of the Democratic delegates in a short time, thus reached the number of delegates required for the party's presidential nomination.

The presidential candidate of the Democratic Party will be officially determined at the party convention to be held in Chicago between August 19-22.
