Exclusive Offer: Stay in Iconic Dream Home Locations

“Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission or revenue if you make a purchase through these links.” Each year since 1997, HGTV has hosted a highly sought-after sweepstakes giving participants the opportunity to win a dream home. Interestingly, not all winners have kept the property as their permanent residence. Some have opted to sell the home either due to a desire to move on or financial reasons like high taxes. Surprisingly, a few winners have transformed their dream homes into Airbnb rentals that are open for anyone to book and experience. If you’ve ever fantasized about living in or exploring an HGTV Dream Home, here are two properties available for a peaceful retreat—one nestled in the mountains and the other located by the beach.

2007 HGTV Dream Home: Winter Park, Colorado
Situated 9,000 feet above sea level in the picturesque Rocky Mountains, the 2007 HGTV Dream Home is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Located in the Winter Park resort area, this ski-in, ski-out property offers a perfect setting for outdoor adventures in both winter and summer. Though close to two decades have passed since its debut, the home’s charming mountain architecture remains intact. With four covered balconies and large windows framing stunning views, the property seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor living. Additionally, a hot tub allows guests to unwind while soaking in the scenic surroundings. Inside, the kitchen retains its original design by Linda Woodrum, featuring a “hidden” refrigerator, vibrant blue backsplash, and matching countertops. Throughout the house, stone accents, wooden beams, and multiple fireplaces create a cozy cabin feel. The residence, managed by Winter Park Lodging Company, boasts four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, accommodating up to 14 guests. Nightly rates vary depending on the season, with peak ski season weekends requiring a three-night minimum stay at around $1,300 per night, while May rates start at $800 per night.

2013 HGTV Dream Home: Charleston, South Carolina
Nestled in South Carolina’s Lowcountry, the Kiawah Island property was the location of the 2013 HGTV Dream Home. Surrounded by expansive marshes and lush greenery, this home offers a serene retreat. One of the standout features of this sage green home is its wraparound deck, complete with a heated plunge pool, various seating areas, a dining table under an umbrella, plush lounge chairs, and a grill. Additionally, guests have access to a nearby beach and five championship golf courses. The three-bedroom, three and a half bathroom property can accommodate up to eight guests. While some bold design choices from 2013 have been updated with neutral tones, the airy and bright atmosphere of the home remains inviting for a relaxing getaway.

The interiors of the property still maintain an overall coastal cottage style, as noted by ESPM Vacations. According to the listing, the house was constructed using the highest grade, earth-friendly materials and has achieved LEED Platinum certification. The owners, who prioritize sustainability, are actively working towards reducing plastic waste. They have recently installed a water filtration system to eliminate the need for bottled water and offer full-size, refillable amenities as an alternative to the typical small plastic bottles found in hotels. A weekend stay from Friday to Monday will cost approximately $700 to $900 per night. For more home inspiration, follow House Beautiful on Instagram and TikTok.
