In his NCAA Tournament debut, Chaz Lanier scored an impressive 29 points on 11-of-22 shooting to lead No. 2 seed Tennessee to a 77-62 victory over Wofford. The Volunteers never trailed in the game, securing their spot in the second round for the fourth consecutive season. Head coach Rick Barnes’ team will face No. 7 seed UCLA next after their win over Utah State. Lanier, a Nashville native who transferred from North Florida, shined on the big stage, displaying confidence and skill. Zakai Zeigler also made his mark with 12 points and 12 assists, becoming Tennessee’s career assist leader. Despite a strong effort from Wofford, Tennessee’s dominance prevailed as they capitalized on turnovers and executed efficiently. Tennessee now looks ahead to the Sweet 16 as they aim for continued success under Barnes’ leadership.
