Beach Umbrella Horror Tough Young Woman Saves Lifeguard!

A lifeguard is hospitalized after being impaled by an umbrella at a New Jersey beach on Wednesday morning, officials reported. The woman was discovered near the lifeguard stand with an umbrella stake protruding from the front of her left shoulder and extending about a foot out of the back of her arm, according to Asbury Park Fire Chief Kevin Keddy. She received initial treatment from her fellow lifeguards, with the fire department later arriving to stabilize her. The responders cut the umbrella stake to help manage the wound before paramedics transported her to the hospital. Chief Keddy noted that the lifeguard remained conscious and alert throughout the ordeal, praising her resilience. While the specific circumstances of the incident were unclear, Keddy advised beach visitors to securely anchor umbrellas in the sand and carry them with the point facing down for safety.
