The St. Petersburg Police Department has confirmed that Steven Gress and Miranda Corsette, a couple from Florida, are being charged with murder after the dismembered body of a teenage girl they met through a dating app was found in a dumpster. The body of 16-year-old Miranda Corsette was discovered nearly two weeks after she was reported missing on Feb. 24th. The suspects allegedly met Corsette on a dating app, lured her to Gress’s home in St. Petersburg, and she stayed with them. Miranda, who was homeschooled and lived with her grandmother, was reported missing by her grandmother to the Gulfport Police.
During a press conference, it was revealed that Corsette, Gress, and Brandes got into a dispute over missing jewelry on Feb. 20th, resulting in the teenager being beaten and tortured until her murder between Feb. 20th and Feb. 24th. Gress then allegedly took Corsette’s body to another house in Largo, Florida, where she was dismembered. The body was then placed in a dumpster in Hillsborough County. Brandes turned herself in on March 8th after a witness tip led authorities to the case on March 6th. Gress and Brandes are facing charges of first-degree murder in Miranda Corsette’s death. Gress is also facing a kidnapping charge and was already in custody for unrelated charges prior to the investigation.
