The O.J. Simpson case, perhaps the most tabloidized murder trial of the last thirty years, has been the subject of numerous books, TV series, movies and documentaries. Owen Wilson, offered the lead role in a new movie, turned down the role and $12 million.

The producers of the movie, The Juice, met with the actor's representatives for the role of Douglas McCann, Simpson's lawyer in the 2000 civil trial. Although Wilson's representatives liked the role, Owen Wilson turned down the offer, saying, "You've got to be kidding me if you think I'm going to star in a movie arguing that O.J. didn't commit the murder."

What is the O.J. Simpson case?

American football player O.J. Simpson was one of the most important players of the Buffalo Bills. Simpson was accused of murdering his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman in 1995 but was not convicted in court. In the 1997 trial, Simpson was convicted of "knowingly causing their deaths" and was sentenced to pay 33.5 million dollars to their families. The trial process, which was broadcast on television, became quite tabloidized and made the Kardashian name famous. Because Robert Kardashian was Simpson's lawyer in the first murder trial.

Joshua Newton, the director of the movie, which is said to be in the "satirical thriller" genre, stated that they found a new actor to play McCann, despite Wilson's rejection of the role.
