The cryptic call for global change from the President has come to light. Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, expressed on Tuesday his country’s eagerness to engage in peace negotiations promptly in order to bring an end to the conflict ignited by Russia’s full-scale invasion. Zelenskyy also emphasized the importance of reconciling with the United States following a challenging meeting with President Trump in the Oval Office.
In a comprehensive social media post, Zelenskyy stated, “Nobody desires peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I are prepared to collaborate under President Trump’s resolute guidance to achieve a lasting peace.” He outlined potential initial steps for a ceasefire agreement, which seemed to align with a European proposal put forth by French President Emmanuel Macron over the weekend. This declaration was made as Ukraine prepared to continue its defense without U.S. military assistance, as announced by President Trump on Monday.
“We are committed to swiftly ending the conflict, with the initial stages potentially involving the release of prisoners and a ceasefire in the air – prohibiting missiles, long-range drones, and attacks on energy and other essential civilian infrastructure. A cessation of hostilities at sea is also imperative, provided that Russia reciprocates. Subsequently, we aim to progress rapidly through subsequent stages and collaborate with the U.S. to reach a robust final agreement,” Zelenskyy articulated.
Acknowledging the support of the U.S. and President Trump in Ukraine’s resistance against the Russian invasion, Zelenskyy remarked, “We deeply appreciate the assistance America has provided to uphold Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence. The pivotal moment of change was when President Trump supplied Ukraine with Javelins. We are thankful for this gesture.”
Reflecting on the discordant White House meeting, Zelenskyy expressed regret, saying, “The encounter did not transpire as anticipated, which is unfortunate. It is imperative to rectify this situation. We aspire to foster constructive future collaboration and communication.” He affirmed Ukraine’s readiness to finalize agreements on rare earth minerals with the U.S., stating, “Anytime and in any suitable format.”
“We perceive this agreement as a stride towards enhanced security and robust security assurances, and I sincerely hope it will be efficacious,” Zelenskyy concluded.
