Zelenskyy Hints at Imminent Russia-Ukraine Ceasefire!

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed optimism about the potential for a ceasefire with Russia in the ongoing conflict, urging Kyiv’s allies to increase pressure on Moscow. Speaking in Prague alongside Czech President Petr Pavel, Zelenskyy emphasized the need for decisive action to bring an end to the war. He highlighted the importance of applying greater pressure on Russia, as he believed that without such measures, Putin would not take concrete steps towards peace.

Zelenskyy stated that a ceasefire could be implemented promptly and suggested a minimum duration of 30 days to allow for meaningful diplomatic efforts. He criticized Putin’s recent three-day ceasefire announcement as insufficient and reiterated his support for a longer, unconditional ceasefire aligned with a previous U.S. proposal.

The Czech government has been a staunch supporter of Ukraine since the Russian invasion in 2022, taking proactive steps to supply Ukraine with ammunition. Zelenskyy called for more sanctions against Russia, continued support for Ukraine, and enhanced defense cooperation across Europe to signal a united front against aggression.

Despite Putin’s temporary ceasefire offer, Zelenskyy emphasized the need for a more sustained and comprehensive approach to ending the conflict. He praised international initiatives, such as the Czech ammunition drive, and outlined plans for further collaboration in military aviation and training programs.

Looking ahead to diplomatic engagements, Zelenskyy underscored the importance of foreign policy discussions aimed at pressuring Russia into accepting a ceasefire. He highlighted recent conversations with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding air defense systems and sanctions on Russia, reaffirming the shared goal of initiating a 30-day ceasefire as a crucial initial step towards peace.
