Woman Arrested for Fatally Stabbing Son, Caught on Camera

Newly-released police bodycam footage shows Saritha Ramaraju, the woman accused of fatally stabbing her 11-year-old son, walking calmly towards officers who then arrested her. The tragic incident took place at a Santa Ana motel, where the boy was found with his throat slit. Ramaraju, 48, was promptly taken into custody and charged with murder.

The footage captures the moment of her arrest as officers approach her, with one noting that she has blood on her hands. Despite the horrific nature of the crime, Ramaraju appears composed and compliant throughout the arrest process. It was revealed that she had informed authorities of the killing herself that morning, claiming she had stabbed her son and attempted suicide by ingesting pills.

The boy had been under Ramaraju’s care for a custody visitation, following a trip to Disneyland. Investigators discovered his lifeless body surrounded by souvenirs from the theme park. A large kitchen knife, allegedly purchased the day before the incident, was also found at the scene.

Ramaraju, initially charged with murder and the use of a weapon enhancement, is now facing an upgraded charge of special circumstances murder, which includes the allegation of lying in wait. This new charge could potentially lead to the death penalty. She has been appointed a public defender and has not yet entered a plea.
