Engaging in arguments with your in-laws is a common occurrence post-wedding, right? Well, not for Kailee Brantner. The 22-year-old woman from Brookfield, Wisconsin, found herself in a heated dispute with her boyfriend’s mother over the choice of wedding venue, leading to a shocking and violent altercation.
It all started when Brantner’s fiance discovered text messages and screenshots exchanged between Brantner and his mother, sparking a disagreement over the couple’s plan to use their own home as the wedding venue. Tensions quickly escalated, ultimately resulting in a physical confrontation.
According to the complaint cited by Fox 6, the victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, revealed that upon returning home early from work, he was unexpectedly attacked by Brantner. Initially pushing her away, the situation intensified as Brantner pursued him into the kitchen and grabbed a knife.
In a harrowing turn of events, Brantner allegedly unleashed a series of violent swings with the knife, leading to the victim sustaining multiple lacerations, including two severe cuts to his neck. As the victim tried to defend himself, Brantner’s relentless assault forced him to drop to his knees.
When law enforcement officials from the Brookfield Police Department arrived on the scene, they found the victim applying pressure to his bleeding neck while Brantner sat alone on the couch. Brantner, in a surprising twist, claimed that she was merely trying to protect herself from potential harm.
Recovering a bloodstained knife with a distinctive pink handle from the kitchen, officers gathered evidence to support the victim’s account of the altercation. Brantner now faces a charge of first-degree reckless injury and is scheduled to appear in court on February 13th to address the gravity of the situation.
