In recent years, Pope Francis has faced numerous health setbacks, undergoing surgeries in both 2021 and 2023. Additionally, he has been grappling with chronic knee problems, necessitating the use of a wheelchair.
Pope Francis Sustains Injury as Vatican Confirms Second Fall Within Weeks
In his memoir, the pope attributed his health issues to his advancing age, remarking that “the Church is led by the head and the heart, not by the legs.”
Recent incidents include two falls, one occurring in December and another in January. Following the latter fall, which took place at his residence, the pope’s arm was placed in a sling as a precautionary measure, according to the Vatican.
