The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a recall for approximately 29,541 pounds of ready-to-eat beef sticks under the brand name Chomps. The recall was initiated on Wednesday after the discovery of metal in the product.
The recalled product is the Chomps Original Beef Stick. The USDA made the announcement following notification from the manufacturer, Idaho Smokehouse Partners, regarding two consumer complaints about metal pieces found in the product. The affected items are 1.15-oz vacuum-sealed packages of “CHOMPS ORIGINAL BEEF STICK MILD” produced between Jan. 13 and Jan. 15, with an expiration date of Feb. 10, 2026, and lot code 25016 printed on the label. The packaging also includes establishment number 6220A.
These products were distributed to retail locations in California and Illinois. While there have been no confirmed reports of injuries related to consumption, the USDA advises consumers not to consume the recalled items. Those concerned about potential injuries from consuming the product should seek advice from a healthcare provider.
Consumers who have purchased these products are encouraged to either dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase.
