USDA Health Alert Soup Brands, Including Campbell’s, Potentially Contaminated!

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert regarding 13 frozen soup and bowl products due to potential contamination with extraneous material, specifically pieces of wood in the cilantro.

While FSIS has not initiated a recall for these products, as they are likely no longer available in stores, consumers may still have them in their refrigerators or freezers. The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has recalled the cilantro after finding wood in it, prompting FSIS to investigate further.

Affected brands include Campbell’s, Verve, Health Request, Life Cuisine, Molly’s Kitchen, Sysco, and Crafted Market products. The FSIS health alert only lists specific products, each with unique establishment numbers and use by/sell by dates.

These products were distributed in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio, but the alert may expand to more states. Consumers are advised not to consume the affected items and either dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
