Kelly, a member of the Armed Services Committee, visited Ukraine to show support and assess the situation. The Trump administration’s decision to halt intelligence-sharing and military aid to Ukraine has put pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. Kelly’s visit to Ukraine was met with criticism from Trump advisor Elon Musk, who called him a “traitor” on social media. Kelly, a former astronaut and combat pilot, dismissed Musk’s remarks and defended his support for Ukraine.
The political divide over support for Ukraine has become more pronounced, with Democrats maintaining strong support while some Republicans have wavered. Despite the challenges, Kelly remains committed to defending freedom and supporting Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. This trip marked Kelly’s third visit to Ukraine since 2023.
