US House Aims for Bold Climate Clean Energy Rollbacks in Budget Proposal!

House lawmakers in the U.S. have put forth plans to phase out important clean energy tax credits and cut spending related to electric vehicles and renewable energy. They aim to expedite gas exports, retrieve unused climate funds, and support President Donald Trump’s agenda through a multi-trillion-dollar budget. The proposal by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, to be voted on Tuesday, would generate $6.5 billion by eliminating climate-related provisions from the Biden administration’s Inflation Reduction Act. The proposal targets EPA rules, including emissions standards for vehicles, while facilitating LNG export permits and allocating $2 billion to replenish the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. The bill also aims to reclaim funds intended for green initiatives, citing misuse and inefficiency. These actions have drawn criticism from environmental advocates like Lena Moffitt of Evergreen Action, who argue that the proposal undermines investments in energy efficiency and community health.
