After the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl 59, NFL fans transitioned into the offseason mode. While there are various upcoming events such as NFL free agency and the 2025 NFL draft to keep fans engaged until the 2025 NFL season commences on Thursday, September 11, eager football enthusiasts are eager to see the players back on the field. Many will turn their attention to the United Football League (UFL) once its season begins. The UFL, in its second year following the merger of USFL and XFL in 2024, will maintain the same format as its predecessors with a 40-game regular season and a two-week postseason to determine the champion.
The 2025 UFL season is set to kick off on Friday, March 28, with the Houston Roughnecks facing the St. Louis Battlehawks. The game will take place at TDECU Stadium at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. local time in Houston). The Roughnecks, coming off a challenging 1-9 season, aim to improve their performance with quarterback Nolan Henderson and running back Kirk Merritt leading the charge. On the other hand, the Battlehawks, after a 7-3 season concluding in a loss in the XFL conference championship game, are looking to make strides under new leadership as they face the Roughnecks.
The 2025 UFL regular season will include 40 games played over ten weeks, followed by a three-game postseason involving four of the league’s eight teams. The comprehensive schedule for the 2025 UFL season is outlined below (all times Eastern):
