Unveiling Greg Cannom’s Oscar-Winning Magic on Mrs. Doubtfire and Vice!

Renowned makeup and prosthetics artist Greg Cannom, known for his award-winning work in movies such as “Mrs. Doubtfire,” “Bram Stoker’s Dracula,” “Vice,” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” has passed away at the age of 73. His frequent collaborator Rick Baker confirmed Cannom’s death in an Instagram post. The duo worked together on various projects including “Cocoon,” “The Howling,” “The Fury,” and the iconic music video for Michael Jackson’s hit song “Thriller.”

Baker fondly remembered Cannom as a talented artist, recalling their early days working together in the industry. Cannom’s illustrious career included six Academy Award nominations for best makeup, with four wins to his name. Notable films featuring Cannom’s exceptional work include “Big Top Pee-wee,” “Dick Tracy,” “Alien 3,” “Batman Returns,” “The Mask,” “Blade,” “The Insider,” “Ali,” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.”

In addition to his achievements in film, Cannom also received five Emmy nominations throughout his career. His impact on the industry, along with his innovative contributions to makeup application in motion pictures, will be remembered long after his passing. Rest in peace, Greg Cannom.
