Tonight’s full moon is extra special because it combines both a micromoon and a pink moon. The micromoon occurs when the full moon is farthest from Earth, making it appear smaller and dimmer compared to a supermoon. The pink moon, on the other hand, is the first full moon of spring but does not actually shine pink. The micromoon will be most visible at 8:22 p.m. ET tonight and can be seen throughout the night. The National Weather Service has provided cloud forecasts for Saturday night and early Sunday morning. The pink moon gets its name from the blooming of creeping phlox flowers in early spring. Additionally, other lunar events to look forward to this month include a moon-smile formation with Venus and Saturn before sunrise on April 25, and a new supermoon on April 27.
