A dramatic incident on the M27 resulted in the arrest of a woman following a serious crash. The unfortunate event occurred when a person sustained severe injuries after a collision on the hard shoulder of the M27 in Hampshire. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary promptly responded to the situation. They arrested a woman on suspicion of driving under the influence, as the collision took place on the eastbound carriageway of the motorway on a Saturday evening around 22:30 GMT. The location of the crash was reported to be between junction two (Ower) and three (M271), involving a black VW Golf and a silver Mercedes SLK.

The arrested woman, a 44-year-old from Wraysbury in Windsor and Maidenhead, Berkshire, was taken into custody on suspicion of drink-driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Following the incident, the road had to be closed in both directions for a period of time for investigation and cleanup. The westbound carriageway reopened around 01:00, while the eastbound side was fully operational again by 09:30.
