Unlikely Friendship Baby Turkeys Befriend Baby Deer – A Disney-Like Tale!

Brown Hiking Trails recently posted a flashback video from two years ago featuring her adorable baby deer named Biscuit bonding with baby turkeys, creating the cutest scene of the day! The turkeys not only made friends with the fawn but also became companions with the family’s Golden Retriever. In the caption of the video, Brown shared the heartwarming story of how she rescued the turkey eggs after a mishap with a lawnmower, incubated them at home, and watched them hatch. The baby turkeys quickly warmed up to baby Biscuit before eventually flying away after a few weeks. The video captured the sweet interactions between the animals, delighting viewers on social media. The post received positive comments from followers who praised Brown’s care for wildlife.

For those curious about when baby turkeys start flying, Brown mentioned in the video that they were surprised by how quickly the young turkeys became proficient at flying. According to the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife, newly hatched turkey chicks, or poults, can walk shortly after birth and leave the nest within a day. After about eight to 14 days, they can fly short distances and begin roosting in trees. Another source, Answering Everything, explained that young turkeys typically stay with their mother for about 28 days, during which time they rapidly gain weight and independence. It seems that these feathered friends don’t rely on their parents for long before venturing out on their own adventures.
