Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry expressed doubts about the return of star running back Nick Chubb to the team anytime soon. The signs were clear when the Browns drafted Quinshon Judkins from Ohio State in the second round and Dylan Sampson from Tennessee in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. They also reworked the contract of running back Jerome Ford. Berry mentioned that while he wouldn’t completely rule out Chubb’s return, it seems increasingly unlikely, at least in the near future. Communication between the team and Chubb has been minimal since the draft. Chubb, who has been plagued by knee and foot injuries, has only played in 10 games over the last two seasons. Despite his limited appearances, he managed to rush for 332 yards and three touchdowns in 2024. A standout in the league with four Pro Bowl selections and four 1,000-yard seasons, Chubb ranks third in Browns history for rushing yards behind legends Jim Brown and Leroy Kelly. Judkins led Ohio State with 1,060 yards and 14 touchdowns last season, while Sampson, the SEC Offensive Player of the Year, set records for rushing yards and touchdowns at Tennessee. Ford, who had 565 rushing yards and three touchdowns last season, has been a consistent contributor since being drafted by the Browns in 2022.
