Police are currently investigating allegations of abuse at a secondary school believed to be Galashiels Academy in the Scottish Borders. The incidents in question are said to have occurred between 1969 and 1980. Authorities are urging any victims, including former pupils who may no longer reside in the area, to come forward with information. Detective Inspector Jim McLauchlan of Police Scotland’s National Child Abuse Investigation Unit emphasized the importance of reaching out, stating, “We want to encourage everyone with knowledge of this type of crime to come forward, even if they no longer live in the area.” Any information that could assist in the investigation is welcomed, and individuals are encouraged to contact the authorities. Reports will be handled with care and professionalism by specially trained liaison officers to support victims. Scottish Borders Council has been approached for a response on the matter.
