Gotta catch ’em all! A solitary Flamin’ Hot Cheeto, molded to look like an iconic Pokémon, fetched a jaw-dropping $88,000 at an auction. Known as “Cheetozard,” this 3-inch long, fiery red puffed snack bears a striking resemblance to the fire-breathing Pokémon creature Charizard. The item was sold on Goldin’s auction website earlier this week to an undisclosed buyer, possibly an aspiring Pokémon trainer.
Charizard, a beloved and widely recognized Pokémon from the longstanding game and television series, holds a special place among fans. The Flamin’ Hot Cheeto dubbed “Cheetozard” was originally discovered and preserved sometime between 2018 and 2022 by 1st & Goal Collectibles, as stated by Goldin. Its popularity soared on social media last year due to its likeness to the fictional monster. It later found its way to memorabilia site Arena Club in November 2024, where it was hailed as the “rarest Charizard in the world.”
This remarkable Cheeto, which gained viral fame owing to its resemblance to the Pokémon Charizard, comes with a custom Pokémon card and is encased in a transparent storage box to protect it from deterioration. Bidding commenced at $275 on February 11, but swiftly escalated to the winning bid of $72,000 on Sunday. After factoring in the buyer’s premium, the grand total soared to $87,840.
In a noteworthy similarity, a regular-flavored Cheeto resembling the late gorilla Harambe was sold for nearly $100,000 on eBay back in 2017.
