He also expressed interest in making Greenland part of the U.S. With Canada, Trump posted images of North American maps showing the U.S. expanded without Canada.

While Trump’s remarks may seem light-hearted, there is some strategic thinking behind them, especially concerning Greenland and Panama. Both countries have security and economic implications for the U.S. Trump highlighted the importance of Greenland for national security reasons, mentioning potential independence or joining the U.S. as options.
