Several former members of Donald Trump’s first administration have been selected to assume key cabinet positions as he readies to return to the White House later this month, the president-elect announced through a series of Truth Social posts on Saturday.
The 78-year-old Trump nominated Steven Bradbury for the role of deputy secretary of transportation, Katharine MacGregor – currently holding the position of vice president of environmental services at NextEra Energy — to serve as deputy secretary of the interior, and David Fotouhi as deputy administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Additionally, the incoming president appointed Paul R. Lawrence as deputy secretary of Veteran Affairs, University of Chicago professor Casey B. Mulligan as chief counsel for advocacy at the US Small Business Administration, and Army veteran James Danly as deputy secretary of energy.
Trump revealed his latest selections in a string of posts on Truth Social over the weekend.
Bradbury, who previously served as the general counsel of the Department of Transportation during Trump’s first term, was recognized by the 45th president for his efforts in revitalizing the nation’s infrastructure and cutting down on regulations that hindered job growth and small businesses.
MacGregor is set to return to the Department of Interior, where she was previously employed during Trump’s initial four-year tenure.
Fotouhi, a veteran of the EPA throughout Trump’s first term, will resume his work at the environmental agency with a focus on promoting policies that support economic growth, American energy dominance, and ensuring clean air, water, and soil for all citizens.
Lawrence, who had previously served as the VA Under Secretary of Benefits in Trump’s first term, will concentrate on veterans’ welfare and ensuring they receive the respect they are entitled to, according to Trump.
Mulligan, a noted economist, will take on the role of chief counsel for advocacy at the US Small Business Administration, bringing his expertise in addressing regulatory challenges facing small businesses.
Danly, a retired US Army officer with combat experience in Iraq, will be rejoining the administration, having previously held roles as General Counsel, Commissioner, and Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission during Trump’s first term. Trump highlighted Danly’s accomplishments in winning numerous cases before federal courts and advancing regulatory reforms to secure affordable energy for the American populace.
