Trump Mulls Transforming US Soccer to Football for World Cup Hosting!

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump is considering making a bold move during a recent interview. He expressed interest in issuing an executive order to rename the sport of soccer in the U.S. to football, aligning it with the terminology used in the rest of the world. Trump mentioned this idea while watching the FIFA Club World Cup final on July 13, stating that the change could be easily implemented.

This potential change is just one of Trump’s many initiatives, as he has previously directed the government to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America and urged private mapmakers to follow suit. While soccer is the commonly used term in the U.S., Canada, and Australia, football is the preferred term in Europe and many other countries.

The sport of soccer has long been a point of defiance for American national teams and fans, who have proudly asserted its distinct name. Trump, a former owner of the New Jersey Generals in the U.S. Football League, has shown support for the sport, particularly as the U.S. is set to co-host the World Cup with Mexico and Canada in the near future.

During the recent FIFA Club World Cup final, Trump was in attendance at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, where Chelsea emerged victorious over Paris Saint-Germain. Despite some mixed reactions from fans, Trump participated in the trophy ceremony, presenting the award to Chelsea and joining the players for their celebratory photos.

This potential renaming of soccer to football reflects Trump’s interest in promoting the sport and aligning with global terminology.
